Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 Returns to Hutan Kota with Open-Air Art, Sculpture, and Public Programs

Art Jakarta officially announces the return of Art Jakarta Gardens 2026, marking its fifth edition with a dynamic open-air art experience. Taking place from May 5–10, 2026, at Hutan Kota by Plataran, the event will feature 26 galleries from Indonesia and across Asia.

Since its debut during the pandemic in 2022, Art Jakarta Gardens has evolved into a key annual highlight within Indonesia’s contemporary art calendar. Its distinctive format blends indoor and outdoor exhibitions, offering visitors a more immersive and accessible way to experience art in a natural setting.

Two main tents will house gallery presentations, while outdoor installations transform the surrounding green landscape into an expansive artistic playground.

Sculpture Garden as the Open-Air Highlight

A defining feature of the event, the Sculpture Garden returns with over 30 artworks displayed across the park. This curated outdoor segment showcases leading Indonesian artists, including Sunaryo, Nyoman Nuarta, Tisna Sanjaya, Arkiv Vilmansa, Adi Gunawan, Redy Rahadian, and Naufal Abshar.

As the only Art Jakarta program dedicated specifically to outdoor sculpture, the Sculpture Garden continues to stand out as a signature attraction, inviting visitors to explore large-scale works within an urban green space.

Strategic Collaborations and Special Presentations

This year’s edition is supported by lead partners Bibit and Bank Central Asia (BCA), both contributing to special presentations that merge art with broader lifestyle and financial narratives.

Bibit collaborates with Mulyana to present Tentacles of Wealth, featuring the artist’s iconic Mogus installation—crocheted octopus forms symbolizing adaptability and resilience, drawing parallels to modern investment strategies.

Meanwhile, BCA enhances the visitor experience with exclusive benefits, including ticket discounts, cashback offers, and flexible payment schemes, reinforcing its role in supporting Indonesia’s growing art ecosystem.

Among the main partners, iForte Energi introduces Solagua, a solar-powered installation created in collaboration with designer Sigit D Pratama of .this/PLAY. The work combines sunlight and water elements in a rhythmic system, reflecting sustainability and the relationship between technology and nature.

Other partners include TACO, which contributes structural materials and sustainability-focused workshops, and LUAR, presenting weather-resistant outdoor furnishings to enhance visitor comfort throughout the exhibition.

Public Programs: Music, Performance, and Dialogue

Beyond visual art, Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 offers a vibrant lineup of public programs curated to activate the space.

Music programming, presented by Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation and curated by Plainsong Live, will feature performances from Indonesian acts such as Ali, The Cottons, Jo Soegono, BABON, and more—bringing diverse sounds into the open-air setting.

Performance art also takes center stage, including Bertemu di Tengah by Sarita Ibnoe, exploring themes of identity and movement. Other highlights include Kisah dari Samudera by Agus Nur Amal PM Toh and Laku Swargaloka by Swargaloka.

Complementing these are curated talks and guided tours, fostering dialogue between artists, collectors, and the broader public.

Strengthening Indonesia’s Art Ecosystem

According to Artistic Director Enin Supriyanto, Art Jakarta Gardens continues to evolve as a platform that integrates exhibitions, performances, and public engagement within a single environment.

As part of the broader Art Jakarta annual program—alongside initiatives like Art Jakarta Papers—the event aims to strengthen Indonesia’s art market while expanding its reach to more diverse audiences.

A New Way to Experience Art in Jakarta

By combining art, nature, and community, Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 offers a refreshing alternative to conventional art fairs. Its open-air concept not only enhances accessibility but also redefines how art is experienced in urban environments.

With a growing lineup of artists, partners, and public programs, the event continues to position itself as one of the most anticipated cultural highlights in Jakarta.
