Art Jakarta Papers 2026: Contemporary Paper Art Fair

Art Jakarta Papers 2026 marks the inaugural edition of a new art fair dedicated entirely to paper-based contemporary art. Taking place from 5–8 February 2026 at City Hall, Pondok Indah Mall 3, this event represents a significant expansion of the Art Jakarta ecosystem and reinforces its commitment to artistic depth, diversity, and sustainability.
Bringing together 28 galleries from Indonesia and across Asia, Art Jakarta Papers 2026 highlights the intellectual, material, and conceptual importance of paper as a primary artistic medium. From drawings and prints to installations and experimental practices, the fair offers a focused exploration of paper’s enduring relevance in contemporary art.
The Vision Behind Art Jakarta
It was conceived from a growing need to provide dedicated attention and sustainable support for paper-based art practices. In many local and regional contexts, artworks on paper are often treated as secondary, despite their foundational role in artistic research, idea development, and visual knowledge production.

Globally, however, paper-based art has experienced significant growth, with strong representation at international art fairs, biennales, and institutional exhibitions. Art Jakarta responds to this development by positioning paper not as an alternative medium, but as one with distinct artistic, historical, and economic value.
Strengthening the Art Ecosystem Through Paper
Art Jakarta expands its ecosystem rather than separating it. The fair emphasizes discourse, accessibility, and a more mature collector market, while supporting artists whose practices prioritize paper as both concept and material.
Galleries and Artistic Presentations

The inaugural edition of Art Jakarta Papers 2026 features 28 participating galleries, representing cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Bali, Bangkok, Seoul, Taipei, and Kuala Lumpur. Each gallery presents curated selections that explore the versatility of paper across disciplines.
Solo Presentations and the SPOT Section
One of the highlights of Art Jakarta is the SPOT section, a curated program dedicated to large-scale solo installations. This year, SPOT features:
Iwan Effendi, presented by ara contemporary
Ruang MES 56, presented by kohesi Initiatives
SPOT is designed as a responsive curatorial space that engages with the architecture of the venue while maintaining dialogue with the surrounding gallery presentations.
Special Presentations by Lead Partners

Art Jakarta Papers 2026 is supported by Lead Partners BCA and Sucor Asset Management, whose collaborations strengthen the connection between art, ideas, and broader social narratives.
myBCA Space by Rudy Atjeh
Presented by myBCA, this installation features a monolithic hand-cut paper sculpture by Indonesian artist Rudy Atjeh. Using the metaphor of a tree, the work reflects the journey of human life, resilience, and financial awareness. Visitors are invited to interact with the installation through an origami activity, allowing the artwork to grow throughout the exhibition.
Sucor AM Corner by Naufal Abshar
Sucor Asset Management presents an interactive installation by Naufal Abshar, using chess as a metaphor for investment strategy. Papier-mâché sculptures represent chess pieces, each symbolizing decision-making roles within financial planning. The experience is extended through “Chess Play,” a live interactive activity with varying levels of difficulty.
